Life on the road

I am the wife of a bridge builder. He works long hard hours 100s of miles from our home. I am also the mother of a bridge builder, how wonderful it is to see father and son work side by side building such a beautiful thing. I am truly in awe of the whole process. We stay in motels 20 days a month...I have learned a few tricks and hacks that I'd like to share. Here are 2 to get you started

1. Most motels have a construction worker rate. Usually a lower rate for all 7 days of the week. Weekly and monthly rates. Be sure to ask the manager/owner ahead of time. We did research on all the motels in the area before the job started. They are more likely to give a decent rate when the mention of how many additional rooms you and your crew will need.

2. If staying at a Choice or Wyndham motel...sign up for the perks on their websites to get a member number and get points toward free nights. They rack up fast when you stay as often as we do. Download the mobile app and check it often...some places do not enter your info in correctly and your points are not there. ( we usually get 2 free nights a month to use at any motel, we use our free nights when we go home)
