Dubuque and the out of town worker

If you happen to work construction and you have to stay in Dubuque for weeks at a time, which a lot of people have lately with all they road construction going on...this is what you have to choose from...motel 6 (prostitutes and drug dealers) $50 plus tax a night. Skyline (tiny 1960's rooms that looks abandoned), and the Days Inn(that's where we are) Dubuque has other hotels...if your boss offers to pay for your room then opt for the mainstays!! Let me tell you a  little about the SHAM that we've come across. The motel we stay at has offered us room at a lower rate, the housekeepers come by daily and make your beds, give you fresh towels, etc. they offer breakfast in the morning, its kinda cool looking. Sounds good right? Well I'm here throughout the day so I get to watch the day to day. Housekeepers come in your room and leave your door wide open while they MOVE your stuff around, take the towels so they can maybe wash them...but they usually give the workers the sta

Hidden fees at Motel!

It never fails, they get you one way or another and it makes no sense what so ever. So we stay 20 out of 30 at Days Inn, we signed up for Wyndham points and we most of the time get them and use our points to get free rooms when we get home. It's been nice, so far we've been able to have 10 free stays this last year. So now they owe us for over 30 stays.. I had to email them receipts. The motel we are at has , in the past, put a hold on our account for over 700 that took 9 weeks to get back. They have charged us for nights we don't stay, and they give us a receipt that does not reflect our rewards points. WORD OF ADVISE- get an itemized receipt when you check out. Check to see if they have anything posted about extra incidental hold and you'll notice it says up to 5 business days to return. Just enough time for your info to get "lost" so no hopes of you getting that back. How much more do they really need? The motel business is such a joke. They charge over 100

I don't know about this. It's awfully small and that bathroom has GOT TO GO! I told him that as soon as I feel like I'm living in a coffin then we're out.

Gotta LOVE motel living right?

It's nice to have cable, a comfy bed, and that's about it. There have been about 200 13 year old boy scouts at the motel since Monday. That means loud, squeaky voiced...F word loving... boys!!😵🤪. Yuck. And I've come to the realization that I, and I alone, will forever more be the ONLY one in this life that does ANY packing of ANY kind. .. what's that about? I've packed and moved and unpacked this bunch since 1998...I'm tired!

Bad Pictures

So I got this new camera , my first DSLR, I'm trying to understand it and take good pics but I cant seem to get my focus right and I hate using auto focus. Grrr. Anyway, I took pictures at the job site yesterday and most of them were not what I wanted. That is frustrating. On another note, we are picking up the camper this weekend and checking out of the motel room that we've had for a month now. I feel like the motel here in Dubuque is pushing out all the Godbersen guys...most of them party allot and tear stuff up but it affects ALL of them and that is frustrating but on the same note....all of the Godbersen guys have been here a year...that's $120,000 from them alone, and you'd think that the motel would be a little more accommodating. Days Inn in Dubuque...BIG JOKE....apparently the man who owns it inherited it from his parents some years ago and I can guarantee you its been since the parents were alive that any remodeling has been done. The rooms are dingy, the sta

New Bridge Pics 2019 He's finally home but only for a day. We head back tomorrow for Iowa. I had a good week with the girls but I'm ready to be back in Iowa. He has a better week when I'm there. Me too. I'm surprised he didn't drive this time when they came home, he even laid in the back seat and slept!! That's not like him. We move the camper next weekend, so wish us luck!

Missing him

What a lonely time. This week I am "home " in Missouri. He's at work in Iowa. I'll see him on Friday ....seems like forever still. I
